It's hard to say goodbye, but always good to be back HOME!

:) Nothing like home!

Anyways, we got home on my birthday, the 28th, at night and had a little dessert when we got home to celebrate and then went straight to bed. From Tuesday until Friday night we stayed in Barcelona, I saw some friends, my grandma, and we went for long walks through the city so Hermann would get an idea of Barcelona. The first day around we saw someone and Hermann couldn't stop himself from taking a picture....

Little present from Spain for whoever guesses who the girl standing next to Hermann is!!! (and I'm sorry but my brother, sisters, and parents are not allowed to answer...and neither are the Kuschkes...you know the answer :P )

On the weekend we went to the beach: Tamariu (the name of our little town) in the Costa Brava. A little walk through Llafranc i Calella:

We went to see Spain VS Paraguay at a bar and SPAIN WON!!! They are now in the semifinals of the world Cup!!! :) next up: Germany... I hope we get lucky because they are playing awesome!

Perfect timing!

Next up: Pamplona y San fermines (running of the bulls)

AYOBA!

Op die plaas

For the weekend we went to the plaas (farm): Cornice, D.R. Van Vuuren se plaas. Hermann and I walked the last bit and made a stop by the beeste (cows and bulls) enclosure and an intruder: an eland.

Apparently his family jumped the fence back outside but he was too little to jump over it and got left behind. I am pretty sure he thinks he is a bull now, because he definitely acts like one (...if you know what I mean... hehe)
After that we walk over to the sheep enclosure to see the little ones and the moms:

However, catching the little ones wasn't as easy as it seems but we finally got one:

A couple of cows where on the enclosure next to them:

Now, out for a little picnic next to the water hole at about 4km (2.5 miles) from the house.

After lunch, Hermann and I run all the way back, avge speed: a little over 20km/h, for 25mins.
After that, Hermann, Mariska and I ride with the bakkie (pick-up truck) to the goats' enclosure. Some more running around to catch the little ones, but these are easier to catch since a couple of them are a day (or even less) old!....cutest thing ever!

Two of the lambs had lost their mom the day after they were born because a dog (not domesticated, so he is basically a wild animal) had ripped out and eaten its udder. Thus, also knowing that goats are not great mothers, we had to help the little lambs a little bit by holding one of the goat moms while the little ones sucked the milk out. After that, we had the luck to see how two of the goats gave birth to three little lambs:

Right after they are born, the mom licks them to clean them, really cute but also pretty gross, not gona lie..hehe

UNBELIEVABLE experience though!

One of the goats is really tame (not scared of humans at all) and came to greed us:

and wanted to play a little too:

We named her hardkoppig (stubborn and hard head in afrikaans).

Back to the house for a good BBQ from Mr. Hermann Sr: chicken and lekke' wors (delicious sausage)! Meanwhile, some have fun making bubbles like little kids:

The next day: back to the bokkies enclosure to welcome the newborns and make sure the orphans get a little bit of milk. On the way back, I'm driving! But it's trickier than it sounds: stick, old car, diesel, on the LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD (British style), and on a little dirt track between the bushes ... NOTE: once I get on the "big road" (dirt track but that is big enough to have two ways) I go straight to the right side until Mariska reminds me four times that I have to go to the left side...good thing there's no traffic! haha

After that, back to the capital: Windhoek after 1.5 hours drive (1 of it on the dirt road).

Thanks for the lekke' weekend op die plaas!

AYOBA quiz: answer and winners

First of all, the answer: Ayoba means.... "good times" = expression used when one is having, or has had, a lot of fun and the "event" will be remembered for a long time. Currently it is the "motto" of the Fifa Worldcup South Africa 2010.

And the winner is....... TUMOM! since she was the one which answer was closest to the actual meaning of Ayoba.....it was a hard decision...
in any case, thanks for participating! :)
I HOPE YOU KEEP LEAVING COMMENTS because there is a present every week!!

Ayoba!
